Our History
A plot of farmland in rural Arlington, Texas was purchased for a new warehouse for a company called American Can. This is the future headquarter site of Durable Superior Casters.
Construction nears completion, and American Can opened the Arlington plant, which was the largest industrial complex in Arlington at that time.
American Can ceased operations and closed the Arlington location. A new paper company, Simkins Industries, purchased the facility and converted from manufacturing to warehousing paper products.
Mark and Lily Chang took the leap of faith and started Durable Superior Casters at their house in Arlington, Texas.
Quickly selling more than they could support in their house, they acquired a 5,000 square foot warehouse just one year later.
The warehouse expanded to 10,000 square feet to support the rapid growth of the business.
The next opportunity for growth was in Cincinnati, Ohio, where a 5,000 square foot warehouse was constructed to support expansion into the Mid-West and North-East markets.
Durable Superior Casters relocated to a building of 22,000 square feet.
Simkins Industries shuttered the Arlington location.
The Ohio branch expanded to a new building of 45,000 square feet.
Durable Superior Casters acquired a competitor, Lyle Pacific International (LPI), in Washington state, with its original 10,000 square feet.
Outgrowing once again, Durable Superior Casters built a new warehouse with 54,000 square feet in Grand Prairie, Texas.
The Ohio location built its expansion, and the square footage increased from 45,000 to 80,000 square feet.
Durable Superior Casters added a 4th location in Los Angeles, California with 20,000 square feet.
Needing to expand again to meet increasing demand, Durable Superior Casters relocated to a site that would be a long-term solution to its warehousing needs with 12 acres and 210,000 square feet of warehouse space. This was the abandoned site of Simkins Industries.
Working with the city to rescue this piece of history, the Texas headquarters for Durable Superior Casters officially opens after an extensive renovation of the American Can/Simkins Industries site.
The newly constructed 80,000 square foot warehouse was complete, and the California warehouse relocated to its current location.
Needing further expansion, the Ohio branch constructed another facility across the street and grew to 180,000 square feet.
Texas headquarters added an additional 85,000 square feet bringing it to a total of 295,000 square feet.
The 2nd generation officially joined Durable Superior Casters in the Customer Service Department.
The Washington location outgrew its site and a new building of 85,000 square feet was built in Tacoma, its current location.
Seeing an opportunity for growth in Mexico, Durable Superior Casters selected Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico as the first location to be built outside of the United States, and constructed a 110,000 square foot warehouse.
Responding to a need in Canada, Durable Superior Casters acquired Casters In Motion (CIM) and purchased a 50,000 square foot warehouse in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The CIM operation was relocated to the new warehouse.
The previous conference room had been in service since 2009 and received an extensive renovation that proudly showcased our range of products.
